Re-elect Wendy Weiker

for Mercer Island City Council
Compassion - Experience - Leadership
Wendy's Background & Experience

My family was drawn to Mercer Island because of its natural beauty, close proximity to our off-island jobs, and opportunity to join a community that is proud of both it's heritage and future.  We moved here with our 2 small children because we wanted to enjoy the safe neighborhoods, great schools, wonderful parks and beaches, and strong sense of place. Now that one child is in college and the other is graduating from MIHS in June, I am so grateful to the MI village that helped us raise our children.  We are all so fortunate to call this island home.

I am running to retain my seat on the Mercer Island City Council because I care about our community.  This is a critical time as government leaders decide how we manage our scarce resources while maintaining essential city services and the great quality of life we enjoy on our island.  We must also thoughtfully plan for and participate in the growth, transportation, land use, and economic changes that are happening in our city and this region.  It would be my privilege to continue to represent you, advocate for our community's interests, and work with our city and regional partners to help shape Mercer Island's future.

My professional and volunteer activities include:

  • Over 20 years of public relations experience facilitating and leading community engagement programs for private companies and nonprofit organizations.

  • Masters degree in Public Administration from the UW Evans School of Public Policy.

  • Mercer Island City Council, 2016-present

  • Mercer Island City Council past & present committees: Environmental Sustainability, Eastside Transportation Partnership, Diversity & Inclusion, Parks & Recreation, Council Effectiveness, Sound Transit Station Design, & PTA Legislative Advocacy

  • Mercer Island Town Center Visioning Group, 2014 & 2015.

  • Active in Island Park Elementary, Islander Middle School and Mercer Island High School PTAs, 2006-present.
